Mooooove Into the Light
Let's be honest; home decor can be expensive. And by the time you've spent your life savings on a couch, a bed, and other large home necessities, there's not a lot of room in the budget to buy a $300 lamp that's just going to sit in the corner of the room. That's probably why this person decided to craft their own lamp from things lying around the house, including plastic cups, pie tins, and a plastic cow!
They probably could have opted for more generic everyday items like shells or an old wine bottle, but there are no rules in the DIY craft world. And even if there were rules, this cow lamp probably would have broken all of them.
Night Night, Don't Sleep Tight
In theory, this idea was super cute, and we have to give kudos to this mom for thinking up such an adorable concept! But while we will happily congratulate her on her idea to turn her four-month-old baby's old clothes and first hat from the hospital into a doll, we resent her for bringing such a nightmare-inducing doll into our lives. After all, this looks like something from a Tim Burton movie.
Fingers crossed this child sees the love that went into this doll and doesn't see it for the creepy horror movie character it is. Alternatively, that child is never going to sleep again.
Anyone for Some Mold?
If you're someone that loves handbags, you'll know that there are so many different kinds out there. There are designer handbags, fast-fashion handbags, vintage handbags, and... moldy vintage handbags? Yes, the person who bought this bag decided to add their own little crafty additions to it. They crocheted moldy spores onto the fabric, and we're not quite sure why. But we do feel a little bit nauseous when we look at it.
But while this is a pretty strange arts and crafts project, it's fair to say that it does have its uses. After all, we don't think anyone will attempt to steal a moldy handbag!
A Hair-Raising Project
The great thing about "do it yourself" projects is that you can quite literally do anything yourself. Yes, if you can dream it, you can do it! But should you? Well, we think the jury might still be out on that one - especially when you look at this hairy skeleton. We don't know why someone would pimp out a skeleton with pink hair, but we guess anything goes in the arts and crafts world.
While we have to admire the person behind this monstrosity for really putting their time and effort into making sure every inch of the skeleton is covered in hair, we just have one question; Why?!
A Lebrontosaurus
If you ask us, $200 is an absolute steal for this arts and crafts project. Sure, the $850 they were originally asking was probably a bit too steep, but you can bet your bottom dollar that there's nothing else like this in the world! The Lebrontosaurus is a rare and (slightly) majestic creature, and the person behind this creation even got the proportions just right. Those are some epic DIY skills right there.
While we wouldn't want this in our home personally, we can't help but think that the perfect buyer for this crafty dinosaur is none other than LeBron James himself. It's a no-brainer, right?
Arts and Krafts
Do you love arts and crafts? Do you also love Kraft Singles? Well, we can only assume that the person behind this table was a lover of both. So much so that they decided to merge both of their passions together into one art and Krafts table. Of course, we're totally kidding. Those aren't cheese slices but are actually sepia-toned photographs. But now you can't get cheese out of your head, right?
Although we appreciate the old-school photos, we're also a little disappointed. So, if you want to do it yourself, we'd prefer if you used cheese instead of photos. Pretty please?
Down the Rabbit Hole
The internet is full of craft tutorials and videos, which is why it's easier than ever to do it yourself. But if you're ever influenced to do something and there's a niggle in your mind that there's absolutely no point because it will be super weird, you might want to listen to that niggle! This person didn't, which is why they ended up with this creepy rabbit hole. It seems innocent, but is it really?
Well, we have a feeling that some people really could fall down a rabbit hole when it comes to crafts like this one. So, this one was probably best left as a tutorial.
Emergency Munchies
One of the best things about DIY crafts is that you don't need to spend a lot of money on them. Most of the time, you can do it yourself with things lying around the house - including super glue and cereal! That's exactly why this person decided to glue Cheerios onto a mirror, and we do have to admire their creativity. However, we also have to question why they would do such a thing.
We can only assume that they decided to keep some emergency munchies on hand just in case they got peckish during the night. But surely Cheerios and dried glue don't taste as good as Cheerios on their own?
Who Wouldn't Want This
Facebook Marketplace is a great way to sell your arts and crafts, which is why we're never surprised to see DIY items on there. But it's fair to say that nothing could have prepared us for this bizarre monstrosity. Although the person who made this 7ft tall gender reveal stork obviously loved their crafty creation, they were at least a little realistic in terms of their description. Yes, it'll definitely scare someone at night.
Everything about this arts and crafts nightmare is pretty scary, but the scariest bit of all is that baby sling. It looks a little unsafe, especially so high up in the air!
A Hot Cheeto Mirror
If you've ever bought a mirror before, you'll know how expensive they are. You could easily spend $500 on a mirror, and that kind of price tag just doesn't make sense. So, why not do it yourself? It's super easy and cheap to buy plain mirrored glass and create your own surround - but you might want to steer clear of ideas like this. This person really did make a Hot Cheetos mirror. And no, we're not sure why.
Although this craft project is certainly unique, there's a reason why you can't buy mirrors like this in a physical store. And that's because it's absolutely terrifying and looks a little too much like raw meat.
Somebody Discovered Gorilla Glue
Have you ever discovered something so life-changing that it became your entire personality for two months until you eventually moved on to something else? Well, we have a feeling that the employee behind this mirror had recently discovered Gorilla Glue when they crafted this thing. Upon realizing that this stuff really will glue anything, they opted to glue everything from the lost and found box to the mirror. And this was the result!
Sure, it's a little quirky, but what happens when the owners of the lost and found come to retrieve their items? They'd probably just have to take the whole mirror home with them.
A Little Bit of Bad Luck
We're going to go ahead and admit that this arts and crafts project is actually pretty cool - and we could definitely see it in the homes of country folk! And while we do admire the "do it yourself" spirit of this creation, we do also have to question the thought process behind the upside-down horseshoes. After all, everyone knows that upside-down horseshoes are bad luck, right? And nobody wants bad luck around Christmas.
We'll give this crafter a little pass for this one, though. If the horse shoes were the other way around it wouldn't look as effective. So, we'll take the bad luck.
This Looks Uncomfortable
Do-it-yourself projects can be super romantic when done right. In fact, more and more engaged couples are choosing to head to their local jewelers to forge their own wedding rings with the help of a professional by their side. But we get the impression that this guy didn't employ the help of a professional - and it shows! Sure, the sentiment behind this ring is romantic, but in reality, it looks super uncomfortable.
If you can't touch your fingers together when you're wearing a ring, it's not the right ring for you. But that didn't stop this guy from making a ring out of roller chain.
Take a Seat on the Jair
Arts and crafts are perfect for frugal people who love to make the most of what they already have. And while the owner of this chair could have just thrown it away when the upholstery started to rip and fray, they decided to DIY a solution instead. They gathered up all of their old jeans and created their very own jair. Yes, that really is a chair made from jeans!
We have nothing against these do-it-yourself projects when the end result looks good, but the jury is still out on whether this looks good or not. Personally, we're on the fence.
Oh, Baby
Gifts come in all shapes and sizes, but have you ever been gifted a necklace of tiny plastic babies before? We're going to go ahead and assume that you haven't, as this isn't the kind of DIY craft project that most people add to their list. They stick to relatively normal gifts, such as blankets, shell necklaces, or bedazzled cards. But there's always a first for everything, and this baby necklace is certainly a first.
Of course, a necklace of tiny plastic babies is creepy in the first place. But what makes this whole thing even creepier is the eyes of these babies. Why do they look like that?
How Cheesy
We have a feeling that craft lovers will fall into two camps when it comes to this cheese grater lamp. There will be some that think it's the cheesiest thing they've ever seen in their lives, while there will be others who think it's grate! We can appreciate the creativity that went into this DIY design, but we do have to question why they didn't just buy a new grater.
Sure, the rusty aesthetic might suit some houses, but how many people will really want a rusty bit of metal sitting on their cabinet? But we guess you can't complain too much for $15.
We'll Pass on Dessert
We don't know what is more disturbing when it comes to these baby shower jelly desserts; the fact that they look so strange and creepy, or the fact that the person who crafted these things expects people to eat them! No, these babies aren't part of the glass. They are all part of the jelly experience, which means that they have been made to be eaten! And that's just weird.
Why anyone would want these things at their baby shower is beyond us, but we guess there's a market for them. Why else would this person be selling them for $60?
Ruining the Globe
When you think of ruining the globe, you probably think of global warming and climate change. But would you say that this is also a way of ruining the globe? According to research, traditional globes are actually extremely outdated and inaccurate, which is why this crafty person may have decided to upcycle theirs and turn it into a fabulous moon instead. They even added some fake eyelashes into the mix.
Just because you can do this kind of thing yourself doesn't mean that you have to, though. If you don't want this face staring at you from across the room, but the blue paint down!
At Least They're Not on the Floor
If you have any experience with LEGOs, you'll know that these things are the epitome of "do it yourself." The whole idea is that you use these building blocks to craft buildings and structures. But it seems as though this person decided to try something new and different. Instead of slotting them all together, they decided to shove them into a bottle and fill it with soap. Why? Well, we're not sure.
Of course, a child might appreciate this when they begrudgingly wash their hands before dinner. And at least these LEGOs aren't on the floor for you to impale yourself on, right?
"Goat Skin"
Well, apologies if you actually wanted to get a good night's sleep tonight. With weird crafts like this in the world, we bet it'll be impossible to ever sleep again. But the main issue we have with these terrifying masks is the fact that there's such a big market for these things that this person has been able to make a business out of it! The teeth are just gross.
Is anyone else dubious about the fact that this person had to clarify they were made from goat skin? If you ask us, that looks suspiciously like real, human skin.
Tired of It All
DIY crafters have some pretty impressive skills. But sometimes they go too far, right? And this doll is the perfect example of that. Even the doll itself looks tired of it all. She just wanted to live out her days as a giant head with beautiful hair, but then this "do it yourself" crafter had to go ahead and ruin it all. They cut off her hair, replaced it with Tootsie Rolls, and stuck her to a mason jar!
We love Tootsie Rolls as much as the next person, but this arts and crafts project has just gone so wrong. This whole thing is weird, and not enticing at all.
When You See It...
At first glance, this actually looks like quite an impressive craft project. It looks like it could have been bought from the store, and it looks pretty cool on the wall like that. But when you really, really look at it you will soon realize that all is not as it seems! That's because this wall art is actually made from old popsicle sticks that have been painted and stuck together.
Although the overall effect is pretty neat, the whole thing looks a bit messy from afar. But if this was made by a child for their parents, then it's a cute present!
A Big Nope
We wish we could give you answers, but we're just as clueless as you are. We don't know what animal or creature this is supposed to be, we don't know why it's so overweight, we don't know why it only has green hands and feet, and we have absolutely no idea why it seems to be vomiting blood. Let's just put this monstrosity down to a bad day in the pottery studio.
We don't know why anyone would craft such a thing, but this just proves that sometimes DIY craft projects can go so wrong. And in this case, it's become a nightmare.
A Wine Rack?
Most people live by the rule that if it's not broken, there's no need to fix it. But it seems as though some crafty individuals like to bypass that nugget of information and attempt to "fix" things they have in their lives. And this person obviously wanted to upgrade their bra. And while they could have just stopped at the pink frills and the diamonds, they decided to go that extra mile.
In the heat of their DIY adventures, they opted to grab all of the wine corks in their kitchen and stick them to the outside of the bra. No, we're not sure why, either.
That Price, Though
We get it; art is subjective. And in the art world, you have no idea how much something is going to sell for. A beautiful landscape painting can sell for just $50, while a banana peel stuck to a white background could sell for $2 million. So, we don't blame this painter for adding a few extra zeros to the price of their dog painting. You've got to at least try, right?
But while we appreciate their confidence, we have a feeling that this particular piece of artwork probably wouldn't sell for that much. Especially not on Facebook Marketplace, of all places.
The Liquor Nativity Scene
One of the reasons why so many people love DIY arts and crafts is that the opportunities are endless. When they get an idea in their heads, they can then bring that idea to life and see how people respond to it. But we have a feeling that this idea probably got a pretty frosty reception from others, especially as this person was making religion, arts and crafts, and alcoholism collide.
Yes, that really is the nativity scene made from old liquor bottles! We do have to appreciate the attention to detail, though, and we especially love Mary's robes - which look to be bubble wrap.
Customization Is Key
The sneaker game is huge. People will pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars for rare or unique sneakers, which is why so many people are trying to use their professional arts and crafts skills to their advantage. But we have a feeling that this pair of custom Air Force Ones haven't been customized by a professional. It looks like a toddler has been let loose in the Sharpie drawer.
It seems as though this DIY-er didn't have much faith in their own designs, either. They're selling them for just £25 - which is less than the sneakers themselves.
"Deconstructed" Art
Nowadays, it's pretty easy to wander into a fancy restaurant and find a "deconstructed" food item on the menu. We've been taught that food items are more expensive when they're deconstructed, which works pretty well in the arts and craft community. In fact, this person decided to simply smash a bottle of alcohol, stick it to a frame, and sell it for £40! And we bet they found the bottle from a neighbor's recycling.
While we appreciate the "do it yourself" nature of this product, what we don't understand is why someone would pay for someone else to do this when they could do it themselves at home.
Phone Frosting
There's nothing quite like getting crafty on your phone case. Most of the time, these things are pretty plain - and being able to add your own personal touch really does make a huge difference. That's exactly what this person decided to do when they added this color, texture, and trinkets into the mix. But there's no doubt about the fact that this DIY phone case decoration looks like cake frosting.
If we had this case, we'd have to stop ourselves from trying to lick it off. Mostly because the whole thing is a bit of an eyesore, and looks extremely heavy!
A Major Fire Hazard
We all love Monopoly, right? This board game is a family favorite, which is why we're not surprised to see that people and businesses across the world have crafted merch to remind us of this game. And that's exactly what this person did when they used five Monopoly dollars to make a lampshade. But we can't help but think that this is a major fire hazard? Especially with such thin paper money.
We really hope that if someone did buy this DIY craft project they paid in Monopoly money instead of real money. If not, they need to go directly to jail and not pass go.
Creepy Crafts
If you're looking at this picture and still wondering what you're looking at, you might just want to scroll on. After all, we can bet your bottom dollar that your day will be much better without knowing what these things are. That's because they are... bed bugs! One crafty DIY-er decided to collect these bed bugs and frame them for jewelry pieces, and we don't think we've ever been so confused.
We don't know why anyone would want to collect bed bugs, but we're even more concerned about the people out there who would buy such a thing. We'd rather not have a bedbug necklace, thanks.
Nothing Is off Limits
This picture is proof that nothing is off-limits when it comes to the DIY club. Crafty people will bedazzle or upcycle anything they can get their hands on - even if that thing is a bag of Cheetos. The end result of this is pretty cool, but we can't help but think that it's a bit of a waste of time. Unless they plan on keeping that bag of Cheetos until the end of time without opening it up, of course.
This must have taken a long time to bedazzle, but there is one thing that's annoying us more than anything. Why is there a black dot missing on the "C" of the Cheetos name?
Flip or Flop
People flip things all the time. They flip houses, they flip furniture, and they even flip pieces of "art" like this. And we have to admire this giraffe! It's made from screws and bolts and other DIY items and probably would have looked cool before this person bought it. But when it was painted in rough paint that looks as though it's going to chip off at any moment, it instantly became a DIY disaster.
We actually think this person lost money on this giraffe when they painted it and went OTT on the crafting front. So, we don't think they'll have much luck flipping it.
Flamingo or FlaminNO?
Have you ever had a real urge to put on your DIY hat and turn something ordinary into the extraordinary? There are so many crafts that you can do yourself at home, and sometimes it's as simple as turning a boring lampshade into one with fringing or new upholstery. But this person decided to go one step further with their ceiling light and fan. They decided to get some flamingos involved.
Although we admire this creativity, this looks like a flamingo sacrifice rather than a cool piece of home decor. And we dread to think what'll happen when this fan is turned on.
"Only Worn Once"
Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the photograph of the seller, too? We'd expect nothing less from the seller of such a thing, as it's not every day you come across someone who has made their own crown of thorns. And these things aren't playing around either. The crafty person behind this creation really worked hard to make it as realistic as possible, and the whole thing is actually a little creepy.
We would really love to know if anyone actually bought this crown of thorns from the seller. After all, it definitely looks as though it's been used at least once.
Another Prawn on the Cake
We know what you're thinking, but this isn't a cake. Sure, it may look like a pink cake covered with bedazzled prawns on a mirror-like placemat, but that's not what it is at all. Instead, it's just some weird pink stuff slathered on top of a mirror with some prawns on top! And we don't know how anyone put a price on this DIY craft project, but $3.99 seems a little insulting.
We really hope that this mirror changes every time it passes hands. And for every new person that purchases it, another prawn is added! It probably won't be long until it's full.
They're Unstoppable
If this list has inspired you to get into the crafting game and do it yourself, then you're joining a huge group of people across the world who will bedazzle anything. They really are unstoppable, and they'll even bedazzle fabric spray! But when you look at the price of this thing, who can really blame them? They probably bought the spray and the sparkles for less than $10, but they're selling it for $150!
As if that wasn't enough, there were 20+ of these in people's carts with only one left in stock. So if you needed inspiration to start bedazzling, this is it. You'll be rich in no time.
Painful Playtime
Any arts and crafts fan will know that glitter instantly makes things look better. And while we happen to agree, that doesn't mean that you have to glitter everything that's within reach. This person didn't get that memo, which is why they decided to go hard on the glitter when they were re-doing this children's slide. They turned the whole thing into a fairy garden, which could have been cool.
Although we love the foliage and the overall look of this slide, it's definitely no longer practical. Yes, everyone knows that glitter can be rough. So what child is going to slide down that thing?
Take a Pair
If we're being totally honest, this is quite a useful DIY creation. After all, there's nothing more annoying than walking barefoot on the sand only to realize that it's scolding hot. By making a flip-flop door wreath, you can remind yourself to take a pair every time you leave the house! And we even appreciate the crafty nature of the colorful flowers and the mismatched shoe colors. It's pretty cool, and definitely a statement piece of arts and crafts.
Of course, we do have to question the price tag associated with this thing. Anyone who has ever bought flip flops will know that they're not expensive, so why not just make this yourself?
How Annoying
If you're someone who loves grammar and proper spelling, we know how you're feeling right now. Sure, we appreciate the sentiment behind this crafty DIY cross-stitch pattern, and we can see that the person who made this has a real talent. But we just can't get past the spelling mistakes! And we actually can't understand how this person got this so wrong. They even included the apostrophe! But where did the rest of the word go?
We guess we can give this person a bit of a pass, though. With some arts and crafts, it's easier to carry on and hope that nobody notices rather than start all over again.
