1. Covering Up Nail Holes
The picture looked nice when it was hanging on the wall, but once it's taken down it leaves those small nail holes in the wall that we don't know how to fix. Don't worry about it, a simple way to solve this is by filling the hole with premixed spackling, and then smoothing it over with a putty knife. A small sanding sponge will leave the hole looking like the rest of the wall, then a fresh layer of paint over the top will leave the wall looking better than ever.
2. Hard To Open Locks
There's nothing quite like the moment of fear when you're trying to open the front door and it won't open. A sticky lock where the key doesn't turn properly is not something you should be dealing with. All you need to do to fix this classic household problem is some powdered graphite which you can easily find online. It comes in a little tube that you can squeeze into the keyhole, and you will free yourself from the heart-stopping moment where you ask yourself, "Am I locked out!?"
3. Low Water Pressure
Nobody should be showering with low water pressure in our opinion - the luxury of a strong shower is the least we deserve. So if you are struggling with this issue, there is a quick-fix solution. Find your pressure reducing valve which is located next to the main water line entrance to your home. Turn the bolt on this valve clockwise and voila! The water pressure will be increased.
4. Dripping Tap
If your faucet won't stop dripping water even when it's turned off we have the perfect fix for you. We know how annoying that sound of the drip can be, so instead of struggling through it, you just need to play around with the handle. The tap is probably old and requires a new o-ring (the part of the faucet that the water comes out from) which can be easily changed by removing the old faucet and then re-inserting.
5. Blocked Drain
Clogged drains mean that the water can't leave the bath, shower, or sink as quickly as it needs to. In order to fix this, you can simply order a drain cleaning tool online. It's a cheap and effective tool that is reusable and just takes a few drops to unclog a drain. Plus, in the end, you have the immense satisfaction of having removed the blockage from the drain yourself.
6. Squeaky Doors
How annoying are squeaky doors? Well, you don't have to deal with this anymore. There's a simple DIY fix in order to add lubrication to your door and get rid of the annoying noise. Most people think to use WD-40 metal spray, but instead of this a better option is to use a silicone spray that doesn't smell as strongly, and also keeps the door squeak-free for longer.
7. Sticky Windows
The last annoying house problem you might experience is windows that are sticky and don't open easily. This might have happened as a result of the way the paint has dried around the ledge. In order to counter this, just take a putty knife and gently pry it all the way around the window getting rid of any sticky points. If required, you can also tap the end of the knife into any more tough parts with a hammer to free the window.
